Terms of Service
Last updated: July 5, 2026 — DRAFT for attorney review. Not yet published.
The short version (plain words): Peekode checks QR codes for signs of danger before anything opens. It is a helper, not a guarantee — no checker in the world catches every threat. You decide what to open; we never open anything for you. Peekode is free, collects no accounts and keeps no history of what you scan. If you use Peekode, you accept these terms.
1. What Peekode is
Peekode (the "Service") analyzes the content of QR codes you scan and shows an informational verdict — SAFE, CAREFUL, or DANGER — with an explanation, before you choose whether to act on the content. The Service includes the Peekode mobile applications and the website/web app at peekode.com, operated by [LEGAL ENTITY / Furkan — attorney: entity formation recommended] ("we", "us").
2. What Peekode is not — no guarantee
Verdicts are automated, informational opinions produced by heuristic rules and third-party reputation services. They are not a guarantee, warranty, or professional security advice. A SAFE verdict means we found no danger signs — it does not mean the destination is certain to be safe. Threats change daily and some will not be detected. You remain responsible for what you open, download, install, join, call, send, or pay.
3. Your responsibilities
Use the Service only for lawful purposes. Do not use it to test, tune, or improve malicious QR codes or phishing campaigns; do not probe, overload, or attempt to bypass the Service's infrastructure; do not misrepresent Peekode verdicts as certifications.
4. Android direct installation
The official Android app is distributed only from peekode.com. If you install an APK from anywhere else, it is not from us and may be dangerous — verify the SHA-256 checksum published on our download page. Sideloaded apps do not update automatically; the app will tell you when an update is available, but installing updates is your responsibility.
5. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy is part of these terms. Summary: no accounts, no ads, no sale of data, scan analysis happens on your device, and the only scan-related data that reaches our servers is the URL when a link needs server-side checking — never stored beyond a short anonymous cache.
6. Intellectual property
Peekode, the Peek logo, and the app's code and design are our property or licensed to us. The app includes open-source components under their own licenses (listed in the app). You may not copy the Service or use our marks without permission.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT VERDICTS WILL BE ACCURATE OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL DETECT ANY PARTICULAR THREAT.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSSES RESULTING FROM CONTENT YOU CHOSE TO OPEN, INSTALL, JOIN, CALL, SEND, OR PAY AFTER SEEING A VERDICT. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS OR [€/$ 20 — attorney to set].
Consumer-rights note: if you are a consumer in the EU, Turkey, or another jurisdiction whose law grants you rights that cannot be waived (including liability for intent or gross negligence), nothing in these terms limits those rights.
9. Changes and availability
We may update, change, or discontinue the Service at any time. We may update these terms; material changes will be shown in the app, and continued use means acceptance. The then-current version always lives at peekode.com/terms.
10. Age
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the higher minimum age in your country). Parents and schools may use Peekode to protect children — that's what it's for — but the agreement is with the adult.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [Turkey / other — attorney decision], excluding conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the courts of [venue], except where consumer-protection law gives you the right to your local courts.
12. Contact
